Animated diagram with placeholders: an example address is split by color into protocol, server, port, and stream ID. Below it are two boxes. The checker detects missing parts, swapped separators, and implausible ports, but doesn't check whether the server is reachable or the credentials are valid. Only a connection test in the streaming app shows that

Your address stays on this device

The check runs entirely in your browser. No connection is made to the server you enter, and no stream key is sent.

What can you check in a stream URL?

The checker splits RTMP, RTMPS, SRT, and SRTLA addresses into protocol, server, port, path, and stream identifier. That way missing parts, swapped separators, or implausible ports show up faster, before you use the address in a streaming app or an encoder.

The local structure check doesn't tell you whether the target server is reachable or accepts your credentials. For that you need a deliberate connection test with the sender you plan to use.

What parts make up a stream address?

The protocol comes first, followed by the server name or IP address and, if needed, a port. RTMP addresses often also contain an application path and a stream identifier. SRT addresses can contain parameters that describe, for example, the role, latency, or stream ID.

Even a missing colon, a swapped question mark, or a wrong port can stop the connection. That's why the checker shows the parts it detects one by one, without sending the address to a server.

Handling your stream key and credentials safely

A complete stream address can contain secret keys or user details. It doesn't belong in public screenshots, videos, chat messages, or forum posts. For a support request, replace the secret part with a neutral placeholder, but keep the structure and separators.

If a key was published by accident, deleting the post isn't always enough. Renew the affected stream key or access, then update every saved sender and OBS source.

What the checker can do

It recognizes the URL structure and typical missing details. Whether the server, credentials, and network actually work can, for security reasons, only be found out through a deliberate connection test in the streaming app in question.
