Animated diagram: on the left, the four values RTMP port 1935, application live, stream key as a placeholder, and stats port 8081. In the middle, the generated nginx.conf with the key line highlighted. On the right, the note that the file contains the key in plain text and has to be protected like a password. Below, the note to check with nginx -t before restarting

Made for you instead of hunting for placeholders

Your inputs and the files are created entirely in the browser. The stream key is not sent to IRL4YOU or stored.

Protect your stream key: The generated nginx.conf contains your key in plain text. Don't share it publicly.

What is the RTMP server package for?

The package prepares the key building blocks for your own Nginx RTMP input: RTMP port, application, stream key, and an optional stats page. With it you can, for example, send a smartphone, camera, or drone stream to your own server and then forward it to OBS or to a platform.

The generator installs nothing automatically. It provides a traceable starting configuration that you need to adapt to your operating system, firewall, and existing Nginx installation before use, and check with nginx -t.

How the RTMP stream reaches its destination

The sender connects to the server's RTMP address and transmits picture and audio to a defined application, often live. The stream key tells individual inputs apart. Nginx accepts the stream; after that, OBS can pick it up or the server can pass it on to another destination.

Typical mistakes before the first stream

If no connection comes up, first compare the server address, RTMP port, application, and stream key one by one. Then check whether Nginx is running, the port is open in the server firewall, and any router port forwarding in front points to the right device.

A reachable stats page doesn't yet prove that the media stream arrives correctly. So check picture and audio with a short private recording in OBS before the public stream starts.

1. Set up the RTMP server

2. Review and download the package

3. Install safely

The package doesn't replace checking your server. Back up the existing configuration, install nginx and the RTMP module following the guide, and test with nginx -t before you restart the service.

Privacy

The generator runs locally. The ports and stream keys you enter are not sent to the web server. Downloaded configuration files have to be protected like login credentials.
