Add-ons for an IRL setup, not another list of complete streaming apps

Under "IRL Tools" we collect standalone helpers that do one specific job especially well: configure a camera, remote-control a stream, bond connections, run a relay, or make faults visible. Full streaming applications like Moblin and IRL Pro stay in the streaming software section.

1. How we choose IRL Tools

An entry is not an automatic seal of approval. We look for a traceable original source, a recognizable purpose, a transparent development status, and a real connection to mobile live streams. We label our own hands-on experience separately from the developer's claims.

Camera & Remote

2. DJI Mimo first, dji-remote as a specialist tool

Priority: live stream

DJI Mimo

The official DJI app comes first: supported DJI Action and Pocket cameras can go live over RTMP or through the available platform targets.

  • pass RTMP to the internet or locally to Moblin, an encoder, or OBS
  • remote-control live view, recording, and camera settings
  • gimbal, ActiveTrack, media, and editing
  • manage camera, gimbal, and mic firmware, for example for the DJI Mic Mini
New · self-developed and tested

3. BELABOX network overlay

Connections right in the video

The new overlay shows the percentage shares of up to three active network interfaces. Optionally, total bandwidth and RTT are added as a fourth circle.

  • approved for Orange Pi 5 Plus and ROCK 5B Plus
  • RTMP 1080p30/60, HDMI, and USB/UVC tested in practice
  • configure names, colors, position, and refresh rate locally
  • installer, reset, uninstall, source code, and test report in the package

What the circles really mean

The percentages show how the measured current upload is split across the active connections. They are not a speed test and don't describe the free capacity left on a line.

If a connection drops, the display closes up automatically. When it comes back, the circle is added again without any action from you.

4. The tool categories you'll find in the menu

CategoryTools included
Camera & RemoteDJI Mimo for live streaming and full DJI management, plus dji-remote as a specialist RTMP tool
Setup & PlanningSetup finder, connection builders, QR codes, and calculators for data, latency, power, and bitrate
NOALBS & OBSTwitch OAuth, NOALBS configuration, OBS scene pack, and overlay generators
Server & NetworkBELABOX network overlay, server packs, ports and firewall, and VPS sizes
Check & DiagnosticsCheck the stream URL, configuration, and server status

The subgroups work like the streaming software section: when you open a category, the previously opened one closes automatically. On a tool page, the matching section stays open.

5. Installing and testing safely

  1. Check the project and download source carefully.
  2. For APK files, only use the source the developer names.
  3. Limit permissions to what's needed.
  4. Don't publish stream URLs, access credentials, or Wi-Fi passwords in screenshots.
  5. Test the function with a test target or a private stream first.
  6. Keep a proven configuration as a fallback.
Open source doesn't automatically mean vetted: Source code helps with transparency, but it doesn't replace your own function test or a check of the package you actually installed.

6. Is a fitting project missing?

If a small tool improves a specific IRL workflow, you can suggest the original project on the IRL4YOU Discord. We first check the source, purpose, and development status, and then decide whether a permanent page makes sense.
