Diagram for the power runtime calculator: on the left the loads smartphone or camera, encoder, router and modems, and another device, each in watts. On the right the example with 74 Wh, 85 percent efficiency, and 12 watts: an energy bar with 15 percent loss and a time bar with about 4.2 hours of plannable runtime plus reserve, up to 5.2 hours calculated. Below, the four result fields and the note that heat, cold, battery age, cables, and load spikes cut the real runtime

Look at all loads together

The mAh figure alone is not enough. The calculator works with watt-hours, conversion losses, and a reserve you can set freely.

Which devices belong in the runtime plan?

For a mobile IRL stream, it is not just the streaming phone that counts. Add up the smartphone or camera, mobile encoder, router, every cellular modem, audio receiver, USB hubs, and any other devices that run continuously from the same power bank. What matters is the actual power draw under load. The wattage printed on a power adapter often only describes its possible maximum output.

Why watt-hours say more than mAh

Milliamp-hours can only be compared directly at the same voltage. Watt-hours describe the energy actually stored, which makes them better for power banks and mixed IRL setups. Example: with 74 Wh, 85 percent efficiency, and a 12 watt total load, about 5.2 hours remain on paper. With a 20 percent reserve, you should plan for closer to 4.2 hours in real use.

The calculator gives you a planning value. A test with the camera on, active cellular, display, audio, and all connected devices remains essential before a longer stream.

Important practical limits

Heat, cold, battery age, cables, voltage converters, and peak loads change the real runtime. Also check whether the power bank, cables, and distributor can deliver the power you need at the same time, continuously.
